Why Prefinishing

What makes CAROLINA COLORTONES' products so popular with homeowners, contractors, retailers and wholesalers?

It's simple.

COLORTONES provides customers with quality material and consistent finish that cannot be duplicated on the job site.

1 All of your material is stored inside and away from the elements, free of dust and debris. Prior to prefinishing, the material is brought to an ideal temperature.

2 Unless a job site painter takes the time to paint the entire board, all four sides, before installation under controlled conditions, they cannot duplicate the quick and easy process of back priming in the factory. When Colortones applies the first coat onto wood or cement siding, we flood all four sides as the board runs through the machine. Back priming protects the life of the substrate and the finish and often carries a factory warranty.

3 The "pinch" and "drive" rollers spread the appropriate amount of stain or paint onto the board in a consistent manner. This process is the first step in providing an even coat on each piece.

4 The quality of the finish the end user receives from Colortones cannot be duplicated by human hands. Brushes and / or an air knife take off the excess, giving the first board that goes through the same recommended mill thickness as the last board run. The brush / air knife system also ensures that the entire grain pattern and every crevice are filled with paint or stain. The siding is either sent through a special oven or racked and placed to dry, each board drying at the same rate.
