Our History

Carolina Colortones was born out of Black Mountain Lumber Company, a small building supply company on the front porch of Western North Carolina, near Asheville, NC. Founded in 1908, the company was purchased by Chuck and Helen Campbell in 1979. After visiting a west coast prefinish operation, the Campbell’s added the service to their business in the early 1980’s. Becoming a popular option, the couple separated the prefinishing operation in 1990, creating Carolina Colortones.

Carolina Colortones Today

Today, the company is run by the Campbell’s sons and continues the legacy of experience, knowledge and quality. Carolina Colortones works with a broad customer base. Siding manufacturers, wholesale lumber companies, large and small builders and the DIY homeowners. Colortones regularly does business in most east coast states and works with projects all over the U.S. Their material was used on the Better Homes and Gardens House of the Year in 2000.
